Oh, by the way

I painted Emma Kate's toenails for the first time the other day and I took a few pictures to share. Its fun doing girlie things! Emma Kate didn't particularly think it was fun so I probably won't be trying that again for a while. Have you ever tried painting the teeny toenails on the kicking foot of an almost 2 year old!! NOT easy!

Yes, she does actually have fingers for toes...she gets that from her dad. That was the first thing the nurses commented on when she was born, "WOW! look how long her toes are, whose toes does she have?"

Don't you love those chubby toes! Pay no attention to the polish on her toe...it's a miracle I managed to get any on the actually nails!

Daddy's gone and we're bored!

John was gone all last week so by the end of the week the kids and I were going a little crazy. Actually we had a friend doing work in 2 of our bathrooms so for three days I had to pack up and get out by 8:30. Luckily my parents have a pool across the street from there house so we spent plenty of time there. By Thursday the kids were sick of being at my Mimi and Papa's house and were asking to go home. Emma Kate kept crying and saying, "I go, I go." Don't get me wrong, my kids love my parents, but being there for 3 days and having daddy gone was just too much to handle. So, Friday we stayed home ALL day...we only left to go get a pizza for dinner. We cleaned (okay, I cleaned), baked cookies, played and played and played, and painted! This was Emma Kate's first time to paint...can you say BATH! She loved every minute of it, especially painting her arm, hence the bath. Needless to say we are SO glad to have Daddy home again. When John got home last night Emma Kate just sat in his lap and said, "daddy, daddy, daddy" over and over again...such a daddy's girl. And Braden of course, kept saying, "hey daddy, watch this!"

P.S.
We leave for Louisville tomorrow, so I'll be out of touch again for a few days.

Blog break

Just letting you know, I won't be updating the blog this week. John is in Chicago and he took the computer with him. I've got some good pictures to share but they will just have to wait. We leave next Monday for Louisville so I won't be updating much next week either but I plan to post some pictures at least once.

4th of July

I didn't take any pictures of the 4th...forgot the camera. We all went over to my parents house for dinner and fireworks. It was a lot of fun and my mom fixed an excellent dinner, of course. My uncle David loves fireworks so he bought a bunch to set off. We also had sparklers for the kids to have. In my head I knew this was probably a bad idea but I went with it anyway. Braden of course wanted to hold one but I neglected to pay attention to the fact that he didn't have any shoes on. Actually, I had noticed, it just didn't register in my brain that sparklers and no shoes don't mix. So, you can see where this is going...Braden stepped on an ember from the sparkler and burned his foot. Not my proudest moment as a mother, I felt so bad! He's okay, it wasn't too bad, it didn't warrant a visit to the ER or anything. I think Braden cried the rest of the night and about lost it when I tried to put a Band-aid on it. Oh well, what's the 4th of July without a minor burn, right?!

Angels

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." (Heb. 13:2)

I read this scripture this morning and it suddenly struck me how amazing this is. Have I come across angels without even knowing it? The Psalms also say, "He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone." (Ps. 91:11-12)

Maybe I'm a slow learner but I find it truly awesome that God would allow us to interact with angels and gives them charge concerning us.

Random pics

Trying out the highchair...he thought this was so funny!

I have no idea what this is about! She's a character.

Mommy, please get me out!

Sibling love! Ah, the joy...this lasted for about 2 seconds.

Braden's birthday

We celebrated Braden's 4th birthday a week and a half ago. Emma Kate was sick all last week and with John home more he hogs the computer...so I haven't had time to post the pics until now. Sorry for the delay. I can't believe my little boy is 4 years old. Does anyone else I have a hard time with their kids growing up so fast! Anyway, Braden requested a Spiderman party, so my mom and I went to work finding everything Spiderman. Braden had a great time and opened presents in record time.

The Spiderman cake. Mom and I did not make the cake this year. After the 3 hour Curious George cake last year we decided to pay someone else to do the work!

I love his face in the picture. He is so thrilled!

Beach pictures finally!

Our obligatory family picture on the beach. Emma Kate, of course, is not looking but it least we have a smile from Braden because in all the others he was crying.

Walker and Braden at one of the restaurants we went to. Braden was ready for his food and wanted to have nothing to do with having his picture taken... Ah, the joy! Also, notice the man in the background hitting on the woman at the bar. I'm sorry to say he went home unsuccessful that night.

There were sea-dos parked on the beach outside the restaurant, so John took Braden on a little field trip while we waited for our food. This was definitely the highlight of his night (Braden that is.)

Playing on the beach. These are about the only pictures we got this year of the kids on the beach. The first few days we had great weather but I didn't bring my camera out; I don't usually drag my camera out until the middle of the week. Well, unfortunately, the last three days of our trip it rained. So, I quickly took these pictures on our last day when we had a break in the rain, but as you can see it was very windy. Oh well, I've learned my lesson for next year.

Emma Kate's wind blown look. Notice there are no pictures of me from this day, the wind blown look doesn't do as well for me.
